What is SERVE?Serve is a leadership development experience for campers (ages 13-14) who are ready to take their next step at Camp Wildwood.

Serve is designed for campers who are beginning to see themselves not just as participants, but as leaders—campers who care about the community around them, are willing to show up when things are hard, and are curious about what it looks like to one day serve on staff at Camp Wildwood.
This program intentionally blends the fun and connection of camp with hands-on leadership training, meaningful responsibility, and mentorship from our staff team.

Leadership at Wildwood is developed through hands-on experience.
Campers in Serve won’t just talk about leadership—they’ll practice it through real, behind-the-scenes camp life. Under the guidance of staff, Serve campers will be introduced to many of the rhythms and responsibilities that make camp happen, including:

- Learning how the kitchen operates, including time spent in the dish pit after meals
- Helping with basic upkeep and care of camp facilities
- Assisting with camp programs and activities alongside staff
- Learning Wildwood-specific systems, expectations, and camp culture
Serve is a pathway:
While the leadership skills developed in Serve are transferable to school, sports teams, work, and everyday life, the primary focus of this program is to intentionally invest in and train future Camp Wildwood staff.
Participation in Serve does not guarantee a future staff position—but it does represent an important step in that direction.

Camp Wildwood is a Christian summer camp, and Serve is shaped by that foundation.
Our staff come from our partner churches and are young leaders who are intentionally seeking to follow Jesus and live out His way. At Wildwood, we believe leadership is rooted in humility, service, love for others, and participation in the Kingdom of God—not just position or authority.
Serve campers will be invited into this way of life: learning to lead by serving, to care for others before themselves, and to see their everyday actions as meaningful.
You do not need to have everything figured out—but you do need to be open, teachable, and willing to grow
